About Me

I have been a storyteller since I could talk. I’ve been a writer since I could hold a pen. When I started a Catholic primary school aged 4, the last piece of understanding of who I was fell into place. I learnt I was here to be in relationship with the Divine.

But none of those paths have run smoothly or in a good, orderly, linear direction for me. Do they ever?

So I’ve shed previous roles of daydreaming school girl, riot girl literature student, stay at home mom, part time publishing poet, and then dependable but depressive administrator, to arrive at this a next step along the journey: creating a spirit driven writing life shaped around my creative soul and feminine centred spirituality.

I live in Birmingham, in the UK, with my husband and our youngest son, who’s fifteen, and our three scrappy tabby cats.  I also spend some of my time teaching English, including writing, to women from ethnic minority backgrounds. Our eldest son is away at university in Scotland, and this has sparked a time of adjustment to a new era in our home life. I call it my wild woman phase.

Stick around to follow my writing about the Writers’ Tarot, a series which charts the development of our writing as it mirrors the cards of the Major Arcana, and as I chart the path of what it’s like to write that first novel that so many of us have long dreamed about doing. Maybe you’ll be inspired to finally start writing your first novel too?
